(23 nov. 1859/60, Nueva York, N.Y., EE.UU.–14 jul. 1881, Fort Sumner, N.M.).

Delincuente estadounidense. De niño migró con su familia a Kansas, luego vivió en Nuevo México desde 1868. Comenzó desde muy joven su carrera delictual, la que se desarrollaría por todo el sudoeste. En 1880, cuando el sheriff Pat Garrett lo apresó, ya se le atribuía la muerte de 27 hombres. Condenado en Nuevo México en 1881 y sentenciado a morir en la horca, huyó de la cárcel, asesinando a dos guardias, y permaneció libre hasta que Garrett lo encontró y lo mató.
